Without students on campus, Rio Norte might seem a little dark. What brightens it up is all the students with kindness and a smile. Kindness is essential on our campus every day now until forever.
But it’s not just one student; it’s all of Rio Norte’s students. Downey School District, in southeastern Los Angeles County, California, says,” When students feel the kindness of others, they often feel more valued and appreciated. When they are kind to others, they can develop a sense of pride in their positive treatment of others, helping them become more confident in their behavior and the choices they make.”
Kindness reduces stress, prevents bullying, and lowers classroom conflict. Some ways you can show kindness at Rio Norte are simple, daily actions like including others, sharing materials, and offering encouragement. Even simple gestures like just listening to someone can show kindness and make someone’s day. Smiling is also a great way to show kindness.
Fun Fact: Smiling takes 10 to 17 muscles to do, while making a full frown face takes 43 muscles.
Half of kindness is mentality. Students should focus on doing good deeds every day without expecting anything in return. This is great for Rio’s campus and for helping students be successful in life. Most jobs require kindness and social skills, so it’s even better to start young.
Let’s make Rio Norte’s campus brighter than the sun. Show kindness everywhere you go, whether it’s in Rio or with family. It’s not just one student; it takes all to make Rio the place to be.
