Some teachers at Rio Norte can teach two things. For example, Mrs. Mandel teaches two different subjects: math and photography. She has been a math and photography teacher for 10 years! Mrs. Mandel also has an amazing personality making her one cool teacher and a kind person.
When she was asked why she likes Junior High, and what makes this age group special to her? She answered, “Students in Junior High are old enough to know better, but also young enough to make good decisions that will shape the rest of their lives.” Ms. Mandel believes in Junior High kids, and she knows that we are mature enough.

Mrs. Mandel seems to love nature. If she could give advice to her 12-13-year-old self, she said, “Remembering what life was like before cell phones, so people can appreciate nature, quiet, downtime, and having some creativity. Also, have more face-to-face conversations. She likes a classroom where students are supportive and help one another.
Mrs. Mandel has a passion for photography. In fact, when she is outside of her business hours, she likes to take pictures of animals. Ms. Mandel loves animals. In fact, she loves both dogs and cats. She might be up early to take pictures of them. She is more of an early bird than a night owl.
Her favorite show is Modern Family. “I have it playing in the background,” she admits. She also likes the Dodgers. In fact, when she was asked, ” What is your dream job outside of education? She said she’d like to be a Dodgers social media manager because she likes the Dodgers and photography.
Mrs. Mandel also tells us about her experience traveling. “I saw the Eras Tour five times-once in London when Travis Kelce came on stage to perform!”
Therefore, Mrs. Mandel is a fun teacher who has talents like photography and who loves animals. All her different professions make her an amazing teacher and a person.
