If you ask Mason Worden to describe himself, he’ll say smart, funny, kind. But after you get to know him, you’ll quickly find there’s a lot more to him.
Mason, who is in 8th grade and has attended this school for two years, has a passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he practices three days a week.
I asked him what topic he could present on for ten minutes without any preparation, and the answer was obviously Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He said, “I just love it.”
However, life is not always great when you are a fighter. Last year, Mason competed in a tournament and lost. “It was hard to try so hard but still fail,” He said. However, he didn’t give up. He trained really hard, and the next time he faced his opponent, he won.
If Mason were offered $1000 to spend on anything he wants, he would easily spend all of it on LEGOs. He told me that he is strongly against pineapple on pizza. He said, “Anyone who eats pineapple on pizza is absolutely crazy.”
Mason’s main goal before he graduates eighth grade is to earn his yellow belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His inspiration is Professor Art, a coach and black belt in jiu-jitsu.
Overall, Mason is a great student who is a master at Jiu-Jitsu and looks forward to his goal of achieving a yellow belt. He hopes to continue improving his skills and become better in the near future.
