Women playing baseball was a popular thing years ago around 1954, but will they ever have their own league again? The answer is yes, many people and amazing women have been fighting for a chance to play again, and now it’s happening. 
The Women’s Pro Baseball League known as the WPBL has been in the works for a while now. Amazing women from all over the world have been drafted into the league as of November 20, 2025. According to mlb.com, “Over 600 players from 10 different countries attended open tryouts in August at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals.” Only the top 120 players advanced on to the draft held on November 20th.
The only girl to ever play on the baseball team at Valencia High School, Cameron Ely is an amazing woman that fought hard to earn her place on the team. Explained by signalscv.com “The sophomore has been playing baseball since she was three years old. Ely tried throwing and hitting a softball when she was younger. She knew right away it just didn’t feel right and wanted to continue in baseball. ” With so much hard work she made it and has inspired many to chase their dreams of playing baseball.
Kelsie Whitmore was the 1st pick overall and got drafted onto San Francisco’s team. Kelsie Whitmore was the only girl ball player on the Savannah Bananas.
Other great players consist of Mo’ne Davis,the third-round pick by Los Angeles. The 24-year-old Davis, who is from Philadelphia, competed at the 2014 Little League World Series at age 13 and became the first girl to win a game and pitch a shutout. She later played softball at Hampton University, then went on to pursue graduate studies at Columbia University.” said by mlb.com.
Lastly, another amazing girl is Ashton Lansdell got drafted to the Los Angeles team, this amazing woman played for the Party Animals as the only girl.
Overall, there are so many strong women that are playing and coming from all five countries who fought hard for this chance to play baseball again. Games are hoped to start soon and the girls are training hard.
