Mrs. Choi is much more than a teacher. Karen Choi recently talked to me about her life in deeper details than what we all know her as… a teacher. As most people know, Mrs. Choi is a 7th and 8th grade math educator. Mrs. Choi has taught for over 10 years now, and she is doing great at her job.
Previously I asked Mrs. Choi to write herself a personal bio and she replied descriptively with, “I was fortunate to take on various roles in education and the longest job was the high school math teacher. I am a strong believer in the proverb ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a ,an to fish and you feed him for a lifetime’”
Another interesting question I asked was, why do you teach junior high? Mrs. Choi explained that “Junior High School years are the most crucial years in many ways. I want to be there for the students to guide them not only academically but also emotionally, socially, and mentally.”
Mrs. Choi gave me advice she would tell to her younger 12-13 year old self and to other 12-13 year olds. Mrs. Choi replied with “‘Birds of a feather flock together’! Make good friends! This is the advice my mom gave me when I entered the middle school.
Crazy decorative classes and neat organized classes are two of the most popular but Mrs. Choi told me she likes to have a neat and organised class room. What about outside of school? You may ask. Well, Mrs. Choi stated that outside of the classroom, “I like to cook and bake and enjoy running and hiking.”
I asked what book or movie she’s most interested in, and she responded with a fiction called The CORRESPONDENT by Virginia Evans. Mrs. Choi told me this is great entertainment and we should definitely check it out. It was not clearly clarified but I firmly believe that this is a book.
Mrs. Choi explained that if she wasn’t an educational teacher, she would be a landscaper. Mrs. Choi has had the dream job of landscaping for a while now.
Early bird or night owl? She explains she loves being an early bird in order to get to school on time. Mrs. Choi also stated that she runs marathons and practices running for fun. Mrs. Choi is a very athletic and amazing person who is a role model and an inspiration for young kids.
Lastly, as explained, she prefers dogs over cats. Mrs. Choi said one more thing she would like to share is that she loves the River Hawk family.
Overall, Mrs. Choi is an amazing, inspirational, intelligent, inspiring, and hard working person. Mrs. Choi is a wonderful teacher and a great person in general.
