Mr. St. Peter is an 8th-grade science teacher in room B-3. His full name is Jase St. Peter, and he has been teaching for 25 years! But he did not always want to become a teacher. At first, he was on the path to becoming a Paramedic! He went to CSUN to study Environmental Biology. He has a great love for the outdoors and field study, which led to his long-term career in teaching. Mr. St. Peter had gotten a recommendation from an advisor, which ultimately led him in the direction of teaching in the long run.
Mr. St. Peter said that the reason he enjoys teaching the middle school age group is that “The energy keeps me young at heart.” He is a great teacher who makes sure that his students are not only learning but also having fun! He comes up with lots of fun experiments and lots of hands-on activities. He sees himself as a more laid-back teacher rather than the strict type. I feel as if lots of students would agree with this. He is a very chill teacher, but also makes sure that his students are still on track.
He also has lots of things that he is interested in outside of school! He is interested in computers and video editing, and a fun fact you may not have known is that he also helped start Rio TV in 2011!. He has also lately been interested in the world of Artificial Intelligence. He not only enjoys those hobbies, but he also loves reading! He reads a lot of Western books by Louis L’Amour; he has almost the whole collection, which is a lot of dedication!
And finally, here are some fun, random facts about this amazing teacher! If he could give some advice to his 12-13-year-old self, it would be, “Don’t do the stupid stuff, do your homework, and actually study for tests; you could do so much better if only you try.” His dream job if he were not in education would be in the Air Force! He likes dogs more than cats! And is a night owl over an early bird! And lastly, he wanted to share that his family is incredibly important to him and that his family is very close-knit.
He met his wife in high school, and they have been together for 36 years and married for 26! His daughter is graduating from CSUN this year, and she aspires to be a special education teacher! His son is going to be finishing at the College of the Canyons, he is majoring in Computer Science, and will be transferring schools in the fall. His younger brother is a principal at an elementary school in Santa Barbara. He has very loving and supportive parents! That’s all to know about Mr. St. Peter!
