Has Artificial Intelligence affected your life? If so, it may have been to help you write an assignment or with exploring new topics. However, since early 2025, AI has made its way onto the job market, and young adults all over the world are starting to worry.
According to St. John’s University, “a massive 78 percent of organizations are already using AI in at least one part of their work.” This shows that AI is alrea
dy inside many organisations, doing work for them, and if this continues, AI could soon take over multiple jobs.
Additionally, according to MIT researchers, “It’s estimated AI could affect roughly 12% of the total U.S. workforce.” This is even worse for us teens, since AI entering the job market will eliminate teen jobs among the first, since they are more basic and easier to replace.
Many teens are already worried about how AI will affect their future careers. In an online interview with Mr. Malkowski (a teacher at Rio Norte Jr High ), he says, “Technology is shrinking entry-level jobs. As the need for these jobs shrinks, older and more experienced workers will fill more of these roles, making it harder for teens to gain the experience needed to succeed in more advanced careers.” This shows how AI might make it harder for teens to earn enough money to support themselves in the near future.
In conclusion, AI has had a severe impact on teens’ lives. It has and will continue to replace many jobs that are vital for teens to get their lives started. Without these jobs, it becomes challenging for teens to earn enough to become independent and live on their own. Currently, the only known solution to this problem is to enter a field that AI hasn’t taken over yet. So this begs the question, Are you ready?
