POV: Olivia
It was a gloomy day in Chicago, and I was very bored. I decided to call my friends Anna, Camille, Kaylee, and Josh and see what they were up to. One ring, two rings, three rings, I started to believe that they weren’t going to answer, then suddenly they picked up. “Hey, guys,” I said.
“Heyy,” they all said in Unison
“What are you guys up to?” I asked.
“Nothing much,” Josh said
“Same,” Anna, Camille, and Kaylee stated.
“How about we go camping?”
Yesss, I’ve been thinking about that,” Camille said.
“Sure,” everyone said.
The phone call ended abruptly. Now that I have to pack, I grabbed two long-sleeve shirts, three leggings, one pair of jeans, six shirts, and obviously necessities such as underwear, bras, etc. As I made my way downstairs towards the kitchen, I heard some rustling. I knew it was just me in the house, I assume, since I didn’t live with anyone. I’m not 100% sure what it was, but I just brushed it off and didn’t let it spook me out too much. I packed some food, water, bags, and all the stuff we may need for the trip. I got in my car and headed towards all my friends’ houses.
( About 30 minutes later)
We were driving towards the campsite, and it was around 2:00. There weren’t a lot of people there, maybe 1 family. I parked the car and we got out.
“This place looks creepy,” Anna said.
“Agreed,” said Kaylee.”
We got our bags out of the trunk and made our way to the person at this little hut/post. He gave me the creeps, but I put them aside and we started to set up our tents. “We need wood to make fire, guys, so we won’t freeze to death,” I said.
“Okay,” they all said.
We all split up and ventured into the forest. I was scared, but I had to man up and push through. I got a good amount of wood and made my way back to the campsite, where everybody was waiting for me. It was now 7:00, and we decided to make s’mores. “Did you remember to get gluten-free graham crackers?” Josh asked
“Of course I did,” replied Kaylee.
About a few minutes later, we started to eat our s’mores when Josh said he had to pee. So he did, assuming he would be back soon, we started to clean up.
POV: Josh
Sigh, Today was a long day. I just need to go find a bush so I can go to the bathroom. Hopefully, they didn’t eat all the s’mores. I finally found a bathroom. As I start to pee, I hear some loud rustling. I get a little frightened, but I couldn’t run; I continued hoping it would go away. Before I knew it, I was hit on the head, what felt to be a bat. I tried to fight it, but I couldn’t. I closed my eyes, praying I would wake up…
POV: Kaylee
“Do you guys know where Josh is?” I asked.
“He went to the bathroom; you were literally there.” Said kamille
“I know that it’s just that he’s been gone for so long, it’s almost been 15 minutes,” Kaylee said worriedly.
“He’s fine if you care so much, go look for him,” Kamille said.
“Fine,” Kaylee said.
I start to go into the forest, I hope he’s okay, I think to myself. I wonder where he is. As I walk more into the woods, I see a faint shadow, but before I see more, it disappears. I brush it off as if I’m just seeing things. As I’m walking deeper into the forest, I see something on the ground, it looks as if it were Josh’s shoe. I stood there in shock, frozen in fear, because what if it was me next, or maybe he’s not dead, maybe I’m seeing things. I slap myself in the face a couple of times, but it’s still there. I run back to the campsite, but before I can make it, I fall. I get up, I’m thinking I’m fine, but my leg is done for. I yell for help, but nobody hears me. I looked into the distance I saw the shadow I saw earlier. I tried to tell them I was stuck and I needed help, but nobody responded. I could see a glimpse of their face; it looked like someone I knew, but I just couldn’t make their face out.
POV: Kamile
Bro, where is everybody? They all keep leaving me. I go into Olivia’s tent, but she’s nowhere to be found at this point. I’m just going to go home like who invites someone camping and isn’t even here half the time. I said to myself. In the distance, I hear a faint scream. Ya, no, I’m calling an Uber, get me out of here. I look at my phone to call my Uber, it’s at 90% perfect, I said. I call my Uber. He arrives shortly, and I get in the car and go home.
POV: Josh
I open my eyes slowly, still in pain, looking at my surroundings. Where am I, I think to myself. Who did this to me and why? I look to my left, and I see Kaylee; she’s still out cold. I had to take this upon myself to get us out. I try to get up, it hurts, and I push through. I walk to the door and see that it’s locked. I try to hit it with a chair, and it doesn’t budge. Uh Oh, I hear someone coming! I hide under the bed, and they unlock the door and come in. I peek out, and I think my eyes are deceiving me. The person who hit me and Kaylee with the bat was someone whom we once knew. Olivia…
