The NFL Draft is a big deal in the sport’s world, his year was no different. Fans from all around the world came to support the future of their teams. This year’s draft took place in Detroit Michigan on April 25th-27th. There are 7 rounds in this event. The draft was very offense heavy, but there were still some greats for defense. While this draft had some great players in the late rounds the first round was by far the most exciting.

With the first pick going to the Chicago Bears everyone knew they had to go to a quarterback because they just traded theirs. So with the first pick the Bears took Caleb Williams, a quarterback from USC. The next two picks were also quarterbacks Jayden Dainels, and Drake Maye. The Cardinals then he son of star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr. n Marvin Harrison Jr. Their next three picks go Joe Alt, Malik Nabers, and then JC Latham. There were many other great picks in this round like JJ. Mccarthy and Bo Nix. There were some bad picks.

One of the worst picks of the draft went to the Falcons. They picked quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the 8th pick. This might not seem bad because he is a great player, but the falcons signed Quarterback Kirk cousins to a 100 million dollar deal in the offseason. Another bad pick was Tight end Brock Bauers. He was picked 13th overall by the raiders. Once again he is not a bad player it is just that the raiders already have a star tight end in hunter renfroe. A better pick would have been a quarterback because the raiders do not have a good one. There were also some steals from the draft.

The biggest one was getting wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the 28th pick. He was projected to go top 20 since he has amazing speed and athleticism. Another great pick was getting Cornerback Cooper Djean in the second round with the 40th overall pick by the Eagles. He was projected to be a middle first round pick because he is a true talent. He also made history by being the first white cornerback in 20 years.

Fans seem pretty happy and in spirit with the draft. There were many watch parties even at NFL fields. Not only did they have fun during the draft but also after as many people threw parties in celebration of their teams. Miles Garner, a 7th grader at rio norte said “as a forty niners fan I am happy with how my team drafted and to celebrate I went to a nice restaurant.”

The draft this year was epic. There were many great offensive and defensive players. There was good as well as bad picks, but all in all it was great. People got together as not only a group of fans but as a big family. The 2024 draft is seriously one to remember.
