NFL Weeks 2-5 Recaps

Weeks 2-5 had lots of exciting games and plays. In week 2 the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Super Bowl losers, the Philadelphia Eagles by 6 points. The final score was 28-34 Eagles. This wasn’t surprising to anyone really. The Baltimore Ravens had beaten the Cincinnati Bengals this week as well which was a surprise since the Bengals beat the Ravens the last two times they played. The final score was 24-27 Ravens. The Seattle Seahawks beat the Detroit Lions in overtime. The final score was 31-37 Seahawks. The Indianapolis Colts beat the Houston Texans 20-31. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Chicago Bears 27-17. The Kansas City Chiefs played the Jacksonville Jaguars and won. The final score was 9-17 Chiefs. The Green Bay Packers played the Atlanta Falcons and a hard-fought game got the Falcons the win. The final score was 24-25. The Buffalo Bills played the Las Vegas Raiders and the Bills won after a disappointing loss against the New York Jets the previous week. The final score was 38-10 Bills. The Los Angeles Chargers and the Tennessee Titans had an exciting game. They went into overtime and the Titans won with a field goal. The score was 27-24 Titans. The Los Angeles Rams who had a bad year last year and won the Super Bowl 2 years ago were going up against their main rival the San Francisco 49ers. The game was close but the 49ers won 23-30. The Denver Broncos and the Washington Commanders had a close game too. The Commanders almost lost in the end but they still ended up winning 33-35. The Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots 17-24 and the New Orleans Saints beat the Carolina Panthers 17-20. The Cleveland Browns played the Pittsburgh Steelers and lost 22-26 with many questionable calls in the Steeler’s favor.

Week 3 had a little bit more truth to it, by showing who might be good and bad. The 49ers would continue their tear by beating the Giants 30-12. This was led by Christian McCaffrey being out of this world good. The Lions would run all over the Falcons winning 20-6. In a great game by both the Chargers and the Vikings, the Chargers would charge their last drive into overdrive to win 24-28. The Packers would beat the Saints because the Saints missed a possibly game-winning field goal at the end of the game. The Packers won 18-17. The surprise game of the day was when the Texans beat the Jaguars 17-37. In a record event, the Dolphins beat the Broncos 70-20 becoming the third team ever to score 70 or more points. The Browns beat the Titans 27-3. The Bills beat the Commanders 37-3. The Colts beat the Ravens 22-19 in overtime. The Patriots beat the Jets 10-15. The Seahawks beat the Panthers 37-27.  The Chiefs destroyed the Bears 41-10. The Cowboys loss was embarrassing to the 0-2 Cardinals 28-16. The Steelers beat the Raiders 18-23. The Eagles beat the Buccaneers 11-25. The Bengals beat the Rams 19-16.

Week 4 had many high-scoring games like the previous weeks. This started off with Thursday night when the Lions stepped over the Packers. This was led by David Montgomery, who came off of an injury and scored 3 touchdowns. The final score was 20-34 Lions. The Jaguars coming off a tough loss won 23-7. The Rams, who led the Colts 20-0 at the half, blew their lead and they went to Overtime. The Rams still ended up winning 29-23. The Ravens beat the Browns 3-28. The Vikings starting 0-3 won against the Panthers 13-21. In a surprise win over the Bengals, the Titans beat them 27-3. The Buccaneers beat the Saints 26-9 putting them on top of the NFC South. The Bills destroyed the Dolphins 48-20. The game of the week however was between two bad teams, the Bears, and the Broncos. The Bears would take a 28-point lead but the Broncos came back and ended up winning 31-28. The Eagles lost to the Commanders last year in a surprise win and this year it almost happened again. But the Eagles beat them 34-31 in Overtime in the end. The Texans beat the Steelers 30-6. The Chargers beat the Raiders 24-17. The 49ers beat the Cardinals 35-16. The Cowboys beat the Patriots 38-3. The Chiefs beat the Jets in a close game 20-23. The Seahawks crushed the Giants playoff hopes even more with a win 3-24 over the Giants.

Week 5 had many upsets, the first of them being the worst team the Bears. The Brears dropped 40 points on the Commanders and the final score being 20-40. In a surprise turn of events, the Jaguars beat the Bills 20-25. Both teams didn’t have a great game and kept turning the ball over. Meanwhile, Bill Belichick and the Patriots who once dominated the league now are scraps of the worst team in the AFC. The Saints beat them 0-34. The Titans lost to the Colts 23-16 after an interception from the Titans would close the game out. The Steelers beat the Ravens 17-10 and the Ravens held the lead for most of the game but still lost. The Lions beat the Panthers 42-24. In a game-winning field goal, the Falcons beat the Texans 21-19. After another terrible loss from the Giants the Dolphins keep being a great high-scoring team. The Dolphins won 31-16. The Bengals beat the Cardinals 20-34. The 49ers would look unstoppable by beating the Cowboys 42-10 on Sunday night.

Mateo FIsher a 7th grader at Rio Norte was asked who he thought the best players were. He said “I think the best players are Christian McCaffery and Josh Allen. They both just have great elusiveness and have tons of ways to score.” Landon de Leon, another 7th grader at Rio was asked the same question but for defense and he said “I think the best defensive players are Nick Bosa on the 49ers, and Myles Garret on the Cleveland browns. They were both asked who they thought the best teams were and they agreed saying “The best teams are the 49ers, and the Dolphins since they both have many weapons on offense and defense.”

The Super Bowl race will be closer than ever. This year the AFC is loaded with tons of good players and teams ‘ competition is intense. The NFC has some of the greatest players the game has ever seen. Football is back!
