Star Wars is one of the biggest movie franchises, and with May 4th coming around the corner and multiple recent Star Wars releases such as the Book of Boba Fett and the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi show, Star Wars is at a high point. Star Wars was even labeled the second highest grossing movie franchises of all time last February according to https://movieweb.com. However there are multiple trilogies in the franchise and there have been multiple questions on which trilogy in the franchise is the best.

There are multiple ways to compare these three trilogies, however we will be comparing the trilogies using multiple categories and giving points to whichever trilogy wins. First category is visuals. Visuals go to the sequels due to their use of modern filming technology and the use of CGI and other special effects. However the original trilogy gets an honorable mention for their creative use of practical effects and other props. The fights category go to a debatable near tie with the original trilogy and prequels, however the prequels are slightly favored by Rio Norte Students. Although the original trilogy had iconic fights like Darth Vader vs Luke Skywalker, most Rio Norte students favored the prequels due to amazing fights such as Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Anakin Skywalker or Darth Maul vs Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Most students thought they displayed great emotion and were choreographed better. The original trilogy wins the next category for being more iconic. Although the sequels have some characters like Finn and BB8 and the prequels have characters like Darth Maul and Mace Windu. The Original Trilogy wins since characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are both fan favorites and are icons in pop culture. For the next category is writing, this goes to a tie between the prequels and original trilogy. The original trilogy displays the struggle between good and evil while the prequels display political lies and deceit in the galactic republic leading to the rise of the empire and the fall of the jedi council. The final category for now is character dialogue. This category goes to the original trilogy. Although the Sequels had good comedic moments between characters, and the prequels showed great chemistry and emotion between Anakin and Obi-Wan in Episode III. The Original Trilogy wins because of the chemistry and dialogue between the squad
( Han Solo, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and of course Chewbacca)

After all this evidence you may already be convinced to choose one of these trilogies, but let’s see another person’s perspective on this topic. Mr. Flores who is Assistant Principal here at Rio Norte and also a huge Star Wars fan says “I enjoyed the Original Trilogy. I really enjoy the struggle between good and evil. However I really enjoy the idea that there is good in everyone, i.e. Luke believes that his father (Darth Vader) has good in him. Turns out he is right.” When asked who his Top 3 favorite characters were, he said Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Princess Leia. When asked why, he said Yoda, because he is a leader. Obi-Wan, because he is one of the first characters and protected Luke Skywalker. And Finally Princess Leia, because she was one of the only female leaders in the 70s and was very cool.

In conclusion, all trilogies are good. It really comes down to preference when thinking about the best Star Wars trilogy. If you watch Star Wars for amazing heart wrenching lightsaber duels, fights the prequels are for you, battles like the Battle of Geonosis and Obi-Wan vs Anakin are masterpieces when it comes to movie fights. You should also expect to say lots of emotion, friendship, and intergalactic politics. If you’re a more casual fan, many will tell you to watch the Sequels more. The Sequels have some funny scenes and you might also enjoy the cool visuals. However many Star Wars fans will often say that the fights, plot, and dialogue is highly lacking. If you watch movies for a good plot, story or dialogue, then you should definitely watch the Original Trilogy. Overall, most fans will agree that the Original Trilogy and the Prequels are among the top with most Rio Norte fans favoring the prequels. However Rio Norte students also stated that the Sequels were among the bottom although the students liked the most recent releases like the Mandalorian.
