The Rio Norte Book Fair was an extraordinary experience for students here at Rio Norte. The Book Fair was in the library from August 25th to September 2nd. Students could go to the library to purchase items at brunch, lunch and before and after school. Both 7th and 8th grade classes also were able to go with their English teacher. Thanks to Mr. Gonsalves the book fair was able to be held. The Book Fair didn’t just sell books though, Squishes, lanyards, journals, stress balls, pencils, erasers, posters, and bookmarks were available for purchase.

The most popular items were, The Summer I Turned Pretty  book and squishy stress balls. The most popular poster by far was the Michael Jordan Poster, which sold out on day one but was restocked and sold out again. The most popular book genre was horror. 

The cheapest items were the bookmarks you could purchase for 50 cents, pencils for 75 cents, and the erasers which were $1. The Book Fair also had a bargain book section with books under $5. The most expensive item at the Book Fair was the Hard cover Harry Potter pop up book went for $40, which included tinkers and gadgets. All donations or rounding up goes directly to the library.

Mr. Gonsalves is also looking to purchase some books from the Book Fair, just in case you weren’t able to get a certain book, check to see if the library has it. Mr. Gonsalves said, “Thank you for supporting the book fair, since the profits go directly to the library and help make it a better place for everyone.” Mr. Gonsalves is an amazing librarian and on behalf of Journalism we’d like to thank him for everything he has done.
