Last 8th Grade Dance At Rio Norte

Last 8th Grade Dance At Rio Norte

This year’s 8th grade dance is to celebrate the 8th graders that are leaving Rio Norte. It is called the 8th Grade Block Party and is on Tuesday May 28th from 5-7 pm. Only 8th graders are allowed. Tickets are being sold at the ASB window for $20 up until May 17th and $25 up until the day of the dance. Anybody who owns the Groove pack still has to RSVP to the dance at the ASB window. Tickets are only available until they sell out.

At the entrance you need your ID which would be scanned to enter the dance. In this case as long as you had your ID with you, you did not need the receipt of your ticket. Which was needed in some past dances. At the entrance some ASB students would hand you each one green ticket and one orange ticket. The green ticket was for the Habit truck and the orange ticket was for snow cones. Everyone was only given one of everything. At the Habit truck everyone was given a cardboard box full of a medium fry and their famous Charburger. Included in the burger was meat, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, ranch, and grilled onions. This was the only meal that they had given out so picky eaters like myself would have not enjoyed it. At the end they also gave out drinks with the choices of lemonade, Dr. Pepper, Coke, Pepsi, and Sprite. At the Snow cone cart that ASB kids were also working was an ice machine that made the ice. You could then pick between two flavors either Cherry or Blue raspberry.

Besides the food, they had great ways of entertainment like a DJ who played songs like, Baby by Justin Bieber, California Girl by Katy Perry, and Shake it off by Taylor Swift. They also had fun games to play. Such as air hockey and inflatables. The inflatables they had were a football and a basketball one. On the football inflatable you would try to throw the football and small holes that got smaller and smaller. On the basketball one you would try to throw the ball in the hoop that would take the ball to the bottom of the inflatable for other people to grab.

Overall it was a great dance for our 8th graders leaving Rio this year. It was fun, entertaining and lastly enjoyable. 7th graders can’t wait to see what kinds of school events take place next year!!
