Do you know the feeling when an assignment is due and you forgot to do it? That feeling is stress. Stress isn’t good for your body and you should try your best to avoid it. Stress can upset your digestive and reproductive systems. It can increase your risk of heart attack and stroke. It can also increase the aging process and rewire your brain.

When you first feel stress you can tell because you feel something in your stomach and you become anxious. After that, you might start to feel overwhelmed and lose focus on whatever you are doing. You might get angry at your friends for absolutely no reason. Even if you’re tired, sleeping could be difficult. You could also get lightheaded and get a headache. Stress can lead to drug and alcohol usage, even under-age usage.

School stress is common and usually happens every day, none of this stress is really bad for your body. But, sometimes you feel bad stress, it sometimes happens when you forget a homework assignment or forget to study for your test. If you normally have this type of stress you are being exposed to emotionally and physically toxic stress. Stress can control how you act and how you think. Stress can attack your immune system and make you more vulnerable to diseases and sicknesses.

Now, you know that stress can hurt you, but there are ways to avoid stress. One way to avoid stress is by eating well and healthily. If you only eat sweets and candy you can become reliant on sugar to make you happy. Another way to avoid stress is to be physically active. Being physically active helps to pump endorphins into your brain. Endorphins are feel-good chemicals that are healthy. This feel-good chemical is not like sugar and it isn’t addictive, so you don’t have to rely on it. Last but not least, always take time from studying and working to just have time to rest. Mental breaks can go a long way, they can keep you from stress. So, remember to always schedule a break between studying and work because it helps.
