IXL

Alex Marks, Staff Writer

IXL is an online educational platform that offers personalized learning experiences for students from kindergarten to grade 12. The platform was founded in 1998 by Paul Mishkin, a former math teacher who wanted to create a tool to help students improve their math skills. Mishkin had observed that many students struggled with math because they lacked practice and were not receiving personalized feedback. He wanted to create a platform that could provide students with the practice they needed while also giving them personalized feedback.

Mishkin’s vision for IXL was to create a platform that could help students learn at their own pace and in a way that was engaging and fun. He believed that by using technology to create personalized learning experiences, students could develop a deeper understanding of the material and achieve better results. Mishkin’s background as a teacher was critical to the success of IXL because he understood the challenges that students faced in the classroom and was able to create a platform that addressed those challenges. And later this year Social Studies and Science are coming as well.

Opinions about IXL are mixed. Some educators praise the platform for its ability to provide students with personalized learning experiences and its effectiveness in improving student outcomes. Others criticize the platform for its heavy reliance on multiple-choice questions and lack of depth in certain subjects. Despite these criticisms, IXL has become a popular tool for educators and parents who are looking for ways to help students improve their academic performance.

Overall, IXL is a powerful tool that has the potential to revolutionize the way we teach and learn. Mishkin’s vision for the platform has been successful in helping millions of students worldwide improve their math and language arts skills. While there may be areas for improvement, IXL remains a valuable resource for educators and parents who want to provide their students with the personalized learning experiences they needed while also giving them personalized feedback.
