It is famous for its unique building style and guns, addictive v-bucks, huge following, and major release.

Fortnite is usually referred to as a dead game, with its highest monthly player count years ago. But every month, it proves the haters wrong. According to Dexerto, “Fortnite sees between 2.9 and 4 million concurrent players at any one time.” However, monthly, according to Business of Apps, “Fortnite has maintained a consistent monthly active player base of around 80 million.” However, it’s not just the numbers. According to 7th Grader Justin Morgan, “It’s a great game that has a lot to offer, and it brings great memories.”

Fortnite first became popular because of its unique mechanics. In Fortnite’s release year of 2017, there were not any games like it. At the time there were games like Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, and more. All of these games had something in common, they were all first person games and there was no building. So when Fortnite came along, people were very surprised and intrigued. However, the reason why Fortnite has generated over $20 billion to Epic Games is their v-bucks currency. V-bucks are Fortnite’s in game currency that costs money to get. With the v-bucks you can buy in game cosmetics that grant no competitive advantage. According to Fortune, 68.8% of players have spent money on the game. Fortnite first came out only with Save The World on July 25, 2017, a zombie survival game where you could upgrade your traps, guns, and more to protect your base. It wasn’t a blockbuster game but once they released the Battle Royale version on September 26, 2017, it was a different story. In 2017, Fortnite’s release year, they gained 20 million players. And the next year the player count multiplied, with 125 million players.

As you can probably tell by now, Fortnite continues to crush everyone’s standards no matter what they do. Fortnite has been on the leaderboards everyday for almost 6 years. Everyone thought it would be a dead game by now, but it is definitely not. Fortnite is ranked as the third most popular game of all time by “newzoo”. Fortnite will always be one of the most popular games ever.
