Over the years, technology has gotten more and more advanced. In fact, we’ve come so far that there is now a car with color-changing paint. BMW Motors has created a revolutionary paint color that can change colors right in front of your eyes.

The science behind the paint is absolutely mind-blowing. It is the same thing as an Amazon Kindle. It uses something called e-ink. E-ink is made possible by tiny little microcapsules that have a negatively charged white pigment and a positively charged black pigment, according to engadget.com. Unfortunately, the model won’t be available to buy for a while because of how advanced the paint is. It isn’t even confirmed that it will ever be available to buy.

There are some bad things about this paint. For starters, just the base car with no interior or exterior add-ons will probably be very costly. It could be around $200,000 for the car. If you maximize the car’s upgrades, it could cost you anywhere from $250,000 to $300,000, which is very pricey for a car; especially an SUV. That is about the price of a Lamborghini Huracán; it starts at $210,000 and can go up to $400,000 for the Huracán Evo. Most people with that kind of money would most likely buy a Lamborghini over a BMW SUV.

Even though there are many downsides to the paint, there are many good things about it too. First of all, it just looks cool. It can also keep your car warmer or cooler. It can do this by changing to black in cold, snowy winter to absorb heat and changing to white in the summer when it is hot outside to keep the car cool while it’s off. Hopefully, in the future, the car can change to any color you want and not just white or black; for example, a blue, a yellow, or maybe a blue faded into a black.

Hopefully, the car will be done soon and will come at a reasonable price. Plus the color could be on different cars, like the M4, instead of just the iX flow.
