History of Nintendo

When people think about nintendo, they might picture a nintendo switch or nintendo games but do they know Nintendo tracks all the way back to 1889. Of course at the time, the 1800s didn’t have any electronics. Instead Nintendo made playing cards, at this time their name wasn’t just Nintendo, but Nintendo Koppai. In 1951 they renamed their name to Nintendo Playing Card Co., Ltd.. The playing cards were hanafuda cards, a traditional japanese card game which consists of 48 cars and divided into 12 months of the japanese calendar. In 1953, Nintendo became the first company to succeed in mass-producing plastic playing cards in Japan. Ten years later, in 1963, they reworked their name to what is now known as Nintendo Co., Ltd.. Between 1977-1981, Nintendo had introduced their own video game console,s and in 1981, they had made an arcade video game called Donkey Kong. After 1989 Nintendo made the game boy, and since then they have made many more consoles that sold everywhere around the world. With their highest selling console being the Nintendo DS, Nintendo sold more than 154 Million units that contained 948 million games in just one console. Over the years Nintendo has made a total of 10.38 trillion dollars, and today their most known console is the Nintendo switch with 134.4 million consoles sold, along with their widely known Super Mario game with 396 million sold. As of today Nintendo has announced their Alarmo, an alarm clock that turns on like a normal alarm, but it has a sensor that senses a person’s movement once they get up and then plays a victory sound. It is rumored that Nintendo may announce a Nintendo Switch 2 that will be the most sold console in the company’s franchise, possibly even more than their competitors Playstation and Xbox.
