Spooky season is here! The leaves are changing, and here, students at Rio Norte Junior High School are talking about matching costumes. Who doesn’t love Halloween? Here, at Rio Norte, students better start getting ready, because the staff is getting ready to host some fun activities! `What can we expect? Suspense may be killing the students (no pun intended), so let’s have a sneak peek at what activities Rio Norte may be planning!
COSTUME CONTEST!
P.E. Some people hate P.E., while others love it. However, instead of another exhausting day, an annual tradition is held in the P.E. class. In P.E on Halloween day, 10/31/25 (this year), there will be a Halloween contest! With multiple categories for multiple winners! The winners of these categories will win candy (obviously) and bragging rights! And who knows? We may see the P.E teachers in ridiculous costumes!
DECORATED CLASSROOMS!
Though our staff are adults, there is no such thing as too old for Halloween! Teachers may decorate their classrooms with pumpkins or maybe even some Halloween-themed worksheets! It’ll be nice to see changes in the rooms every once in a while, especially to fit the spooky season! According to Mr. O, in an interview, he stated, “I believe kids should have fun with it more than anything.” He also agreed that the anticipation itself is spooky.
MOVIE!
According to https://nortenews.org/4535/rio-news/rio-norte-movie-night/ by Molly Shepard, dated September 3, 2023, instead of a Halloween dance, there was a Movie night. The movie played was “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (which is confirmed as a Halloween movie). For those who arrived early or prefer not to watch the film, there were haunted hallways and rooms, jump scares ready to scare those who aren’t expecting it, and some Krispy Kremes for 5$!
This year, 2025, the movie “Hocus Pocus” will be shown on 10/17/25 for all to see, with haunted hallways that are sure to give a scare, and snacks! This event will be free (except for snacks) with no student ID needed!
HAPPY SPOOKY SEASON FOR RIO NORTE!
From costume contests on Halloween to movie nights and decorated classrooms! School may be boring at times, but enjoy spooky season. And all the activities our staff has planned for the students, but keep your guard up, because you never know, at any point in time, you could get jump scared… BOO!
