Do you know the secret to being an awesome, successful student? If not, let’s hear it!
Attend class on time. This should be really easy. When the bell rings, don’t talk to your friends, then walk to class because you could be late. If you start walking to your class as soon as the bell rings, you won’t be late. Even if you need to go to the bathroom, you’ll still have time to get to class.
For example, you and your friends are eating lunch, and you hear the bell ring. You quickly finish eating and throw away your trash, but then you start chatting with your friends. So, you walk too slowly and get distracted. By the time you arrive at class, you are already marked tardy. Don’t worry, though, because if you do this, you’ll be fine. You hear the bell ring and quickly clean up. You walk to your next class, but need to use the restroom. You get out and walk to class. Then, you get a marked present!
Next, pay attention. Paying attention means listening to the teacher. And listening to the teacher is not talking with friends when the teacher is lecturing. Also, another important fact is to listen to your peers and be respectful. Being respectful is super important. For example, let’s say you and your class are currently taking math. Well, maybe you don’t want to become a Mathematician when you’re older, but maybe your friend or someone else does. You need to respect all of your peers. Another thing to do is ask yourself, how would I feel if I weren’t respected?
Taking good notes is key to learning. When you take notes, your body processes this information to put it into long-term memory. Also, if you forget the information, all you have to do is look at your notes. What’s the point of taking notes and putting the information into long-term memory, you may ask. Well, it is for your work. Doing your work is another key to success. Doing your work also helps your body put it into long-term memory. Doing work is boring, you might think. But don’t forget the interactive fun participation! Participating is really good to do because class is just more boring without participation.
Running in class is very hazardous and could hurt you and/or your peers. Also, throwing stuff around in class is not kind and super dangerous. You should always be kind and ask if a student needs help, is struggling with something, or is even other bullied. Bullies are really bad, and you shouldn’t be one either. Bullies like to be mean to their peers and tend to pick on kids smaller than them. If you see a bully bullying someone, tell an adult and tell the bully to stop picking on him/her. It’s ok to stand up in situations like this.
