Have you ever finished a good book and wondered, “What should I read next?” Well, I have a perfect solution for you: a book series called Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Percy Jackson for short, and PJO for even shorter. It was published in 2005 by Rick Riordan. It is extremely popular and has fans worldwide who connect for various reasons, such as cosplay, editing, and simply discussing their favorite characters.
PJO fits most people’s interests these days, because it is also very interesting. The topics that are included are wars, epic battles, monsters, Greek mythology, Roman mythology, and even some romance. The series is very unique because all the demigods in the books have ADHD and dyslexia, making them hardwired for battle. Most people with ADHD and dyslexia will be able to read about people who are like them. Percy Jackson is really popular because it is a great series to get kids to start reading, and the main character in the series is humorous, which most people like. It also has 108 million copies sold! The series also takes place in New York, Manhattan. The book series consists of 3 series. In each series, there are 5 books. The first series is called Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which only has Greek Mythology. The second book series is called Heroes of Olympus, or HoO. This series has Greek mythology and Roman mythology. It also introduces some new characters for the new prophecy. The third series is called Trials of Apollo, which includes all the characters plus some new ones, and is both Greek and Roman mythology.
You can get the books in either someplace like a public library, or you could get them at stores like Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or any bookstore. They also have audiobooks, in case you don’t like reading. They also have some graphic novels, but they haven’t finished all the series. You could also get it at a book fair at your school, because most of the time they do have them there. I have never been to a library that does not have the whole Percy Jackson series. PJO also has good characters, with backstories you all can understand.

All the characters have good backstories, and they make sense. For example, Piper McLean, a character in Heroes of Olympus (HoO), has a father who is a movie star. She tells about her backstory of being a Cherokee. And how she always asked for things, and people just gave them to her. Later, we found out that since she is a child of Aphrodite, she can use Charmspeak, which is why. (Can’t tell you what it does because it will give spoilers)
The books are also not that long. The first series does not have that many pages. The first book only has 416 pages, and the second book has 280. The second series has a larger number of pages, about 500 to 600. But be warned, it also has really annoying cliffhangers.
“I started reading it because a lot of my friends read it,” says Rio Norte student Gabby Muehler. “I saw a lot of YouTube shorts about it, so I thought it would be fun to read!” Says Rio Norte student, Aaral Talwar. Another Rio student, Vanessa Godoy, said, “My friend and cousin were reading it, so I decided to read it too.” This means that they started reading this book series because others were also doing so.
I also asked the students what their favorite characters were, to see how many of them matched. Gabby said, “ Probably Annabeth Chase.”. Aaral said, “Maybe… Nico Di Angelo or Annabeth Chase.” Vanessa said, “Nico.” And a different Rio student, Samantha Alanes, said, “Nico Di Angelo.” This is probably because Nico Di Angelo is one of the most popular characters in the Riordanverse.
Did you know that one of the most famous quotes in PJO is its first sentence? It is, “Look, I didn’t want to be a Half-Blood”. Percy Jackson is an awesome book series that a lot of people like. This breathtaking book series has really well researched Greek mythology, and you’ll have a magnificent time reading about all of Percy Jackson’s adventures.
