Recently there has been a ceremony for 8th graders who went above and beyond in their work and school. To be invited you were required to have a 3.95-4.0 GPA, or you were able to get the Student of the Year award. Some students were even able to get more than one award. Parents were able to take pictures of their children with the medal and Mrs. Bennett pointed out some individuals that did exceptionally well. The award ceremony was held in the Gym and there were refreshments near the back of the room. The refreshments were cupcakes and water.
Students were able to achieve this goal because they focused in class and were able to achieve that high GPA. There were 3 different colors of medals. The first color was white, white signified that the student had a 4.0 GPA, which is a perfect GPA. The next medal was the red medal, which was given to students who achieved a 3.95-3.98 GPA, even though the GPA isn’t perfect, it is still a great GPA that you could achieve. The third and final medal was the blue one, the blue medal showed that the student got a Student of the Year award.
One student who achieved the award was Aditya Bharadwaj, he says that “The event was extremely fun, and that was because I got to show my parents the two medals” he also stated, “To be represented in a better light to be thanked for what they have done for a whole”. Many students were able to be proud of themselves during the award ceremony, they also had a chance to make their parents proud. Many students who attended the event were praised by their parents for doing well in school.
In conclusion, many students were able to get this prestigious award and they were able to give themselves a pat on the back. After 2 years at Rio Norte, many 8th graders were happy that they were able to get the award. After taking pictures many 8th graders were able to relax after a long school year.
