Ariana Grande’s new album, Eternal Sunshine, was released on March 7, 2024. Last time Ariana Grande released an album was in the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and it was Positions, which was released on October 20, 2020. Her new album contains 13 songs, and in total it has a run time of 35 minutes. Ariana Grande has a total of 7 studio albums, and over 85 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Ariana Grande named her album Eternal Sunshine after the 2004 film called Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which muses on the repercussions of wiping a significant other from one’s memory after a breakup. She conceived the album as a record of both vulnerability and entertainment, and it is inspired by personal life. The album has a mix of both upbeat pop songs, some of the songs have a slower tone. In one of her songs, her grandma, Marjorie or known as Nonna, can be heard at the end of Ordinary Things.
Eternal Sunshine debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, marking it as her sixth
number one album in the country. Her single, “Yes, And?” and, “ We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” debuted atop the Billboard hot 100; with these, Ariana Grande broke the record for the most songs by a woman that were number-one debuts in the U.S. Ariana Grande promoted and discussed Eternal Sunshine on programs hosted by radio personalities Zach Sang and Zane Lowe and was the musical guest on SNL (Saturday Night Live) on March 9, 2024. Ariana Grande also made a music video for her song We Can’t Be Friends, which came out on March 8 as well. Hayden Morales, an 8th grader at Rio Norte says she has listened to the new album, and she loves it. Her favorite song is bye.
So far, her album has been a hit, and it’s been out for barely for a month. Even if the album isn’t very long, the songs have a personal and vulnerability level to it to have fans understand her more about her breakups.
