On February 15th, 7th graders will go on a field trip to Medieval Times. Medieval Times is a themed dinner attraction and restaurant chain where actors play as knights from the 11th century and fight each other on horses. In addition there is a huge gift shop, entertaining shows, and a guaranteed good time. The cost to go is $60 per student at the ASB Office. The buses will leave at 2:00 pm and students will return around 8:00 pm.
When you first walk into the Spanish-themed castle you will be greeted by workers who give you your crowns that determine what knight you will root for in the jousting battle. After that you will take a quick picture with your group then walk over to the gift shop and meet the king and queen who will make a ceremonial entrance with their entourage. They will then announce that the jousting battles will begin shortly, and that everyone should go and watch the battle. People are then seated in the dining area according to the ticket they purchased and what color you got at the entrance. Once seated people feast on multiple foods such as Dragon’s Blood (Tomato Soup) and Castle Bread (Garlic Bread). They will serve you more food throughout the show with dessert at the end.
Then the show starts. At the start all of the knights will be introduced to the audience. Then horses will be brought out to do tricks, and after a falcon will come out and fly by the audience. Next the Knights will be brought out to fight each other until the end of the show.
Gavin Smith , 8th grader here at Rio Norte who went to Medieval Times last year says, “ It was super fun, the food was surprisingly good. We saw so many funny things there like a monkey scratching its butt.” Overall, Medieval times is a great time, there are so many fun activities, shows, and good food.
