Colder weather is proven to help your brain with decision-making, according to kvaroyarctic.com, “studies show that our cognitive functions improve in colder weather” It helps you to be faster at decision-making in the cold. The reason is that the body uses more energy to stay warm, which makes it so your brain gets more cognitive functions.

Cold temperatures help you to sleep because to fall asleep, your body temperature naturally drops. During the summer it takes longer to sleep because it is usually warm. But, in the winter your body temperature is already low, so your body gets a head start to sleep. According to kvaroyarctic.com, “Usually, cold weather comes with shorter days (darker mornings and early evenings), causing us to produce more melatonin, a hormone that helps us fall asleep easier and stay asleep. ”

Many people who are out in the cold experience better blood circulation to the head and the face. This makes your face less inflamed in the morning when you wake up. Even bathing in cold water helps with less inflammation in the body. This is the reason people, especially athletes, take ice baths frequently. Logan King, an 8th grader in Rio Norte states, “I love the cold weather because it makes me calm down and feel refreshed.” An example is taking a cold shower after you exercise; the shower makes you calm down and feel refreshed.
