One of the main places students at Rio Norte love to go to in their free time is our Westfield Valencia Town Center, or, Santa Clarita’s one and only mall. Residents of Santa Clarita love to shop here as well. Recently, the owner of the mall, Westfield, has decided to sell it to another company. This company is called Centennial. They bought the mall for 199 million dollars.
There is no certain idea of what this is going to be, and there are many ideas collected from around Instagram and Rio Norte. Some people want it like the Topanga Plaza, others want it to be the same but better stores. Whatsupscv, an account on Instagram, asked their followers what they wanted it to be. One user says, “Hoping it’s similar to the Americana in Glendale ” another user said, “We need another hospital to accommodate the growing number of people coming to the city. ER abuse and wait times are skyrocketing.” A survey was done interviewing students at Rio Norte. Most responses said they wanted, “Better stores and places to eat at.” One 8th Grader named Hayden Morales said that, “The mall is nice but there isn’t a lot to do here. We need better clothing stores.” Another 8th grader named Shemsa Waseem says, “I think our mall deserves a big upgrade. I always go to the same places over and over again.”
There is no sure idea of what the mall will turn into, but hopefully, In my opinion, they keep it the same but just added better clothing shops and food stalls. But until it fully closes, you can still go to the mall and shop and enjoy the mall while it is still Westfield Valencia Town Field Center.
