Rio Norte’s Book Fair

The 2023 Rio Norte scholastic book fair, an event that lasted from August 24th to September 1st. There, you could find posters, erasers, trinkets, and books. The scholastic book fair takes place in the Library right next to the Administration Office and the B buildings, and it was made to raise money for all the books you see in our Library.

Mr. Gonsalves, the Rio Norte librarian who has worked here for 3 years, comments that his favorite part of the book fair is seeing kids walk out with arms full of books and excitement to read books. “Some of the most common book genres that you would see kids walking out with would be the graphic novels and manga, along with a few erasers and pens,” ”states Mr. Gonsalves. What’s good about the book fair is that not only does everyone get to search, look around, and purchase books, but also raises about $3,000 that helps the library buy new books for students, help repair damaged books, and purchase items related to the library. Meaning each dollar counts whether it’s cash, card, or even apple pay. Staff and volunteers who help

out are given a $5 discount when they purchase their books and trinkets.

The book fair was a big hit, causing lines of people outside of the library waiting to get in before school, brunch, and lunch. The Book Fair will raise money for our Library, making it a little better than it was last year.
