A few months ago Sony Pictures released Spiderman Across the Spider Verse which has made billions of dollars. Many consider it to be the best movie of the year. Although the movie did do absolutely spectacular in the box office which seems to support the people who loved the movie, was it really that good as people and critics say it was? Or was it just as nostalgia buff that forced us to flock to the theaters because of the words “SPIDER MAN”
Before we talk about my thoughts about -the movie, here were a few things that this movie did . First and foremost the animation to this movie was spectacular. I mean every second was better than the one before it, and simply watching the movie made my eyes feel like they were in heaven. In addition the character development of Miles, Gwen, and Peter B Parker was phenomenal. Miles and Gwen just feel more mature and polished as characters, and Peter is a DAD! Also the additions of new characters like Hobie and Miguel O’Hara is not what we
asked for, but what we needed.
But it’s not just that, the movie reminds us that nobody should tell you how you’re supposed to live your life. In addition, one of the best things about the movie is that it shows us the struggle of being a Spider Man. How difficult it really is to be responsible for the protection of an entire city and be a regular person at the same time.
But, the movie did have its flaws. First of all the movie was 140 minutes long, and felt incomplete. The ending didn’t feel like an ending; it was more like they realized the movie was over two hours long and they had to wrap it up, it was just very rushed. The movie didn’t even reach the climax, it was just one long rising action. Due to this the main villain “ The Spot” just disappeared from the story halfway through the movie, which was very annoying because I want to know what happened to him.
Now overall the movie had very good ratings receiving a 94% audience score and 95% on the tomatometer according to rottentomatoes.com, and overall 9/10 on IMDb.com. Seventh grader Cash Lawler here at Rio said, “ I love the animation, characters, and the plot, although the ending was the biggest cliffhanger ever. But overall the movie was pretty good.” Another seventh grader Leilani Marmol said that. “ I really liked the plot of the story. I know people at Rio would like the movie too because it’s relatable. I didn’t like the ending though, but the movie was pretty good other than that.”
In conclusion, the movie is fantastic although many can agree that the ending was the worst part of the movie. If you haven’t watched the movie already then definitely go watch it. To answer the question, is the movie really that good? Yes it is, and I would highly recommend it to people who haven’t seen it yet.
