Fortnite is a game that was released on July 21, 2017. It didn’t take long for it to blow up and it reached one million players very quickly. Many people played and streamed the game which helped it grow even more. This video game became very mainstream and attracted the attention of people of all ages. The player base was all kinds of people in school and grew at a rapid rate and started to have updates and new seasons.

Fortnite seasons make the game more enjoyable because they come out frequently and add weapons, skins, and a new item shop. The item shop is a category in the Fortnite lobby where players can buy pickaxes, skins, and emotes. None of these items grant an advantage to a player’s skill but might scare away other players from trying to fight them.

The newest update in Fortnite included items and skins from a popular anime, Attack on Titan. They added an Eren Jaeger skin, Mikasa Ackerman, and Levi Ackerman. The new ODM gear, a grappler-like item, and another item that was added were the Thunder Spears which are missiles that can be held in your hands. The Thunder spears add 10 damage when hit with them but they explode and do 70 damage. The whole bundle for the new skins costs 2,200 V-bucks, which is the in-game currency. You can buy 2,800 V-bucks for about 20 dollars.

1,553 skins have been made in Fortnite in all of the time it has been out. In the first two years of release, Fortnite has made 9.1 billion dollars because of how much it is played. Many people enjoy playing it even though it has lost some popularity over the years. However, there are still new players joining every day. 8th grader Wesley Pascoe says, “Personally, I play Fortnite a lot and really like the game.” Another student interviewed was 7th grader Angel Infante and he said, “Fortnite is one of my favorite games.”
