Avatar: The last Airbender is Releasing Three New Movies and a Live Action Series

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, also known as ‘Avatar: The Legend of Aang’ in some regions, was a 62 episode, animated T.V. show made in 2005 to 2008 by Nickelodeon. Many people believe this is an anime but it is not, since it was made in America. For a show to be considered anime it needs to be made in Japan. The show was known for its wacky humor and action packed scenes. It was announced that ‘The Last Airbender’ is getting new movies and a live action show!
‘The Last Airbender’ is getting three new movies. The first one is about Avatar Kyoshi, the second is about (Prince and later Firelord) Zuko, and the third one is about Avatar Korra. The first film could be released as soon as 2024. The second 2025, with the third in 2026. The films will most likely be released in theaters and on Paramount Plus. It might be likely that Netflix will eventually show the films, too. Until then, fans can look forward to the live action series which will be released on Netflix.
The Last Airbender is also getting a new live action series. In 2018, Netflix wanted to bring the original show to real life. When Netflix announced they were doing a live-action version of the series, fans were looking forward to it. The cast for the show has finally been revealed. Gordon Cormier is Aang, Kiawentiio is Katara, Ian Ousley is Sokka, Dallas Liu is Prince Zuko, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is Uncle Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim is Fire Lord Ozai. Fans are hoping these actors do well in the series, but there has been much internet debate about the live action format. Earlier in 2010 a director named M. Night Shyamalan made a live action movie, but not so many people liked it. This is why so many people are hesitant but excited about this new series.
Fellow students were eager to share what they thought about these new installments. 7th grader Dillon Torres-May stated, “I can’t wait for the three new animated movies!” He also said, “I liked the original Avatar because of its creative fighting styles and endless possibilities to the general world.” 7th grader Serena Schiffman shared, “Avatar the Last Airbender is something I like because of its humor and amazing action scenes.” She also stated, “My favorite characters are Sokka, Appa, and Iroh. Sokka and Iroh have the best comic relief and Appa is just an animal anyone can love.” Kassidy Olson said, “I can’t wait for the three animated movies because the original live action movie was bad.” From what it looks like, people can’t wait for the new movies!
In short, ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, a show a lot of students at Rio have watched as kids, is going to have new series and movies for the new generation. It might be a year or two before we have access to these, but it will be worth the wait!
