Spring Break At Home

The majority of students have plans for over  spring break and plan to travel out of town or even out of state. Some students however, plan to just stay  at home and relax. Relaxing for several days straight can quickly get boring, so here are some easy, and close things to get you out of the house.

When you have this much leisure time, getting out of the house and getting exercise is really important. One of the best ways to exercise, especially this time of year, is hiking. Mrs. Van Dyke, a 7th grade math teacher, states that hiking is very beautiful this time of year and very fun as long as you bring lots of water. She also recommends Towsley Canyon because it’s very beautiful this time of year, and has many trails for different experience levels.

One of the best things to do when at home for a while is going to a petting zoo or farm. There are lots of really good petting zoos and farms locally that allow for lots of petting and enjoying the animals. Not to mention that by buying snacks, admission, and merch you’re supporting the many animals that reside there.

Crafts can also be a great way to spend your free time. Not only is a lot of the equipment inexpensive or free , creating something cool always feels amazing. Crafting is also a good learning experience, and though it can be frustrating, the skills that you learn from the experience are worth it. Some crafts I enjoy include sewing small stuffed toys, finger knitting and yarn work, painting, and origami. Though they don’t always look great, me and many others find it relaxing and very enjoyable.

One of the most important things you can do during these breaks is spending time with family and friends. This can be as simple as going to have a chat, to baking, and even going to activities like escape rooms and bowling. Since you have a week to yourself, it’s nice to go share it with the people you love.

In conclusion, not only is this break good for relaxing, it is also good for getting active and spending time with those you love. So next time you’re bored at home, follow his list to be sure to have a great time. Enjoy your break River Hawks!
