There are many benefits to electric and gas cars, but which is the better choice?

Benefits of Electric Cars

There are lots of benefits of having an electric car. One of them is that you can get a tax credit ranging from 2,500 to 7,500 dollars. Plus, you don’t have to pay for fuel. According to howtocreate.com, “…Americans are spending $1,837 a year on gas.” With the $1,837 yearly price tag on gas plus the tax credit, owning an electric car could save you at least $4300 dollars per year. Some minor benefits are saving on oil changes and yearly maintenance. More than 10 car manufacturers are producing electric cars, and the list is growing. Some companies only sell electric cars. Some examples are Rivian and Tesla. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, is the richest man in the world. Mrs. Robb, an 8th grade science teacher at Rio says, “I drive a gas car, but my husband drives a hybrid.” and “I prefer electric cars because, if you have a hybrid, you can easily switch between electric and gas powered but we usually use the electric mode.”

Benefits of Gas Cars

People that favor gas cars are usually people who enjoy cars for what they are. They enjoy driving the cars fast and like the sound of the engine. Gas cars can go a lot faster and they are more agile. Also, there are a lot more gas cars to choose from compared to the measly 370 models you can choose from. There are over 3,600 gas car models and it grows steadily each and every year. Plus, sometimes they are cheaper than the electric cars. The Audi E-Tron is about $70,000 and the gas version of that car, the Audi Q7 is $57,000. These cars are also very efficient; they can go almost three times as far as an electric car (over 700 miles).

Cons of Electric Cars

Even though these environmentally-friendly cars are very beneficial, they have many things that are making these cars inefficient. For example, these cars can only go about 250 miles on a full charge, so if you commute for work, you may not want an electric car because you would have to charge it every night, which wouldn’t be good on your electricity bill. Speaking of your electricity bill, an electric car costs about $20 for a full charge, but if you want to charge it every night for a month, it will cost you about $600 dollars a month, but it only costs about $250 to fill up a gas car

Cons of Gas Cars

Sometimes you have to leave the original creation. Gas cars are becoming worse and worse to own nowadays. They will cost a lot more in a few years thanks to the rising gas prices (especially in California). Also, these cars are very high maintenance. You have to replace old oil in your engine and many other tasks that mostly deal with the engine since there are so many parts in them. The engines are really the problem for everything. They need gas, part replacement, and are also slowly destroying our planet. The emissions of these engines are making Earth heat up, also known as global warming. There are emission filters on cars which filter out carcinogens, which are known to cause cancer. This toxin can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, headaches, nausea, and asthma.

In my opinion, I believe that electric cars are the better choice and we should limit how many gas cars are in the world. We can do this by riding a bike somewhere close by
