Netflix is home to many popular shows and movies that have been viewed by millions all over the world. We’ve grown to love these films, but unfortunately, a lot of them have been taken off of the viewing platform such as Secret Life of Pets, Spy Kids, and Kung Fu Panda.

The Secret Life of Pets 2, dubbed “most popular movie”, is about a Jack Russell Terrier named Max, who meets a farm dog named Rooster in the countryside. They both attempt to overcome Rooster’s fears, while Gidget, a pomeranian, tries to rescue Max’s favorite toy from a house full of felines, and Snowball, a bunny who likes to pretend that he’s a superhero, sets on a mission to free a white tiger named Hu from being abused at the circus. The three storylines added complexity and made for a very heartfelt theme. The movie grew rapidly and was eventually released to Netflix on December 27th, 2019. This movie was so popular that a new ride has been added in Universal Studios, Hollywood which contains animatronic figures, and takes a journey through the apartment complex that Max lives in. Despite the large expansion of Secret Life of Pets 2, it was recently taken off of Netflix during July of this year. As said by student Charlotte Brown, “Secret life of pets is a really fun movie, and it’s really funny. I am sad that Netflix has decided to remove it.”

Yet another movie was taken off of Netflix in September of this year, Kung Fu Panda. Both the first and second movies were taken off of Netflix, upsetting many fans of the franchise. The well-known movie was about Po, a clumsy panda who lives in the Valley of Peace, but always dreamed of being a Kung Fu legend. When a heinous snow leopard, Tai Lung, threatens Po’s homeland, Po is chosen to fulfill a prophecy and defend the valley. It was first released to the streaming platform on July 1, 2021, and has unfortunately been taken off of Netflix as of September. Kung Fu Panda was unique because of how massive of a film production it was. Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Animation were all contributors to this beloved movie.

One show being taken off Netflix is Haikyu!, an anime about Shoyo Hinata, a boy determined to become a talented volleyball player despite his small stature. This show was first released to Netflix on November 1st, 2019, and was taken off exactly 2 years later, on November 1, 2021. The most unique fact about this anime is its sound effects, and how wholesome it was in its entirety.

Glee was another show taken off of Netflix in November 2021, a mere 2 years after it was first released. It was about a group of misfits who try to escape the difficult reality of high school by joining a glee club. The club is headed by Matthew Morrison, a Spanish teacher who is passionate about bringing up the spirits in the failing club. The most unique thing about this show is its beautifully diverse cast.

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World is yet another movie being taken off of the popular streaming platform. This film was about the battle between the villainous Timekeeper who is trying to stop time in the world, and a retired spy, Marissa who jumps back into action when she hears about the chaos. She teams up with former spy kids, Rebecca and Cecil, to save the earth. This movie was first released on Netflix on May 20, 2021, exciting many fans of the amazing franchise. The original Spy Kids was already taken off in April of last year, and now Spy Kids: All the Time in the World taken off of Netflix on November 19, 2021.

There is still time to watch these beloved series and movies, and although we’ll miss these classics, it just makes way for soon to-be favorites.
