Dodgers are World Series Champs

Hannah Aina

The world series has come to an end with the results of the Dodgers winning their seventh World Series!. This was a huge accomplishment to the Dodgers and all of their L.A. fans. The story behind the dodgers is enthralling.

The Dodgers were first founded in New York in 1883. They later relocated to LA in 1959 after having success in New York. Their name has also changed as they moved to different places. According  to britannica.com, “The team was known as the Grays, the Bridegrooms, the Superbas, and the Robins before they settled on the name Dodgers in 1932.” This is the 61st year they have been in L.A. known as the L.A. Dodgers.

This win is very exciting since the Dodgers haven’t won a World Series in 32 years. This is the seventh time the dodgers have won the world series. The Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2020 World Series. The Tampa Bay Rays have been to the World Series twice and yet have never won. The Dodgers beat them in game six, the final game,3-1.

Unfortunately, During the game Justin Turner tested positive for Coronavirus and couldn’t play during the game. Although he couldn’t play, he was still cheering his teammates on and was excited for the win.

Many people in this community were cheering for the dodgers. Some responses to have the students felt about the dodgers winning were

“Amazing! The dodgers finally won!” – Madeline Lee (Grade 8)

“Super Happy!”- Alyssa Besina (Grade 8)

“Although I am not a huge baseball fan I was still happy that the dodgers won!” – annonymous student (grade 7)

This was super exciting for our community and the dodgers and gave something to be happy about in these troubling times.
